UMR-1 i UPV-1K

The system described here has been designed for noise measurements and analysis. It's main applications include:

• Noise performance measurements of detectors, preamplifiers, amplifiers and many other devices where S/N optimization plays primary role
• Digital signal analysis in frequency domain

As the system is entirely "software controlled", it's performance can be easily expanded or modified according to the User's requirements.

• Fequency range: 0 to 200 kHz
• Control, data acquisition, data recording and communications performed by UMRecord multifunctional software
• USB 2.0 interface for a PC link
• Power supply from a PC's USB port

UMS System includes also UPV - 1K preamplifier of a gain adjusted within the range 40 to 100 dB (four subranges with 20 dB increment). It's noise density 1nV/Hz1/2 (referred to the input) presents excelent noise performance.The system consists UMR - 1 data acquisition module, UPV - 1K voltage mode preamplifier and multifunction software UMRecord. The UMR - 1 module is based on a 16 - bit A/D converter. The collected and converted data are transmitted via USB 2.0 link to a PC, whose USB port serves also as a power supply for the system. The further signal processing is performed by the UMRecord software. When low level signals are to be recorded, the UPV - 1K preamplifier can be used. It's gain can be adjusted according to the User's needs within given above range. Resistance of the signal source should not exceed 2 kΩ

An example application of the ums system

A typical measuring set based on the UMS System consists of the following components:

• PC equipped with the UMRecord software
• UMR - 1 Data Acquisition Module
• Preamplifier (eg. UPV-1K)
• Noise generator
• Reference resistor 50 Ω (for calibration of the preamplifier)
• Connecting cables
• Other measuring instruments
